DocLanding Difference: Paperless Document Management

This past September, we launched DocLanding to the World Wide Web as a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) product. This means that anyone can go to our website, sign up for our product, and receive a document management solution without needing to buy hardware or install software.

Since then, we have received questions about how we differ from other products that provide online storage and the ability to share documents via the Internet.  Popular products of this type include Box.Net and Microsoft Windows Live SkyDrive.

DocLanding blends online storage and the ability to share files with additional secure document management tools to help the business community convert their paper documents to digital files.  One clear difference is that most online storage services do not offer online scanning. DocLanding does, providing you the tools you need for paperless document management.

Within the DocLanding application interface, you can use our online scanning feature to scan your paper documents directly to the location you want within your DocLanding POINT (Personal Online INformation Terminal). If you use products with an online storage focus like Box.Net or SkyDrive, you would need to have a separate application to scan your documents first.  Also, you would have separate steps for scanning the document with the scanning application and saving it locally, then opening the online storage application and navigating to that file.  In addition, if you didn’t want the local copy of the file, you would then have to go back and delete it.
Check back for additional differences
in upcoming blog posts.

Thanks,
The DocLanding Team
