In our blog, we’ve been looking at some of the document management features that set DocLanding apart from other sites that offer online storage. So far, we have discussed DocLanding’s online scanning and versioning. Today’s topic is DocLanding’s online document viewer, which is a big time saver and can save you money too.
When you’re looking for a document, sometimes the old saying “a picture is worth a thousand words” rings true. With just a quick glance at a page or two, you can see if this is the document you want. However, in some online management systems, you can’t preview the document in the system at all. You have to download the document to your PC and open it in its native application to view it.
With DocLanding, for many common file types, you get to skip

- Time for the native application to load
- The cost of owning the native application altogether!
For example, if someone shares an Adobe PhotoShop file with you to review and you don’t own Photoshop, no problem. When you click the name of the document in your file listing in DocLanding, an image of your document will appear right in the DocLanding application browser.
The DocLanding online viewer has lots of cool features. You can
- Go from page to page in the document
- Zoom in and out
- Rotate 90 degrees left and right
There are even more features that are specific to the type of file you are viewing. For example, if you are viewing
- An image file, you can add various types of annotations to the image, including adding notes or blacking out information you don’t want others to see
- A type of file that has raw text embedded in its format (for example, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, PDF, text files, etc.), you can search for a word or phrase within that file
- A Microsoft Word (.doc) or Microsoft Excel (.xls) file, you can edit it online, again without needing to open or even have Word or Excel installed on the computer
